Nature study programmes and citizen science - what do families actually use?

iNaturalist is the best citizen science platform for families. Upload a photo of any organism and the community identifies it.

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch and BTO Bird Surveys involve children in real data collection used by ornithologists.

Handbook of Nature Study by Anna Botsford Comstock is the original and still the best framework. Free online.

Phenology journaling: recording first frost, first blossom, first swallow - dated and mapped over years. Children who do this for five years have a richer understanding of ecology than most scientists.
